Audio Brewers have released ab Transcoder v2.0, available for €9.00. Existing users can upgrade for FREE.

ab Transcoder is a very small tool that will help you convert Ambisonics audio files from one format to another.

Whether you recorded your audio with a SoundField, Ambeo, Zoom, or any other 1st Order A-FORMAT microphone, this plugin simplifies the need to install several different plugins from different manufacturers – anything goes, in a transparent, easy, and quick manner.

The plugin was designed so that you could do your thing in a couple of seconds, and then move on to what’s important! Simply select your Signal type INPUT and your destination OUTPUT, and ‘ab Transcoder’ will do the rest for you! That simple.

Additionally, a Mic Orientation control is also available in case your microphone was sideways or upside down at the moment of recording.

ab Transcoder can convert any A-FORMAT (types I or II), FUMA or AMBIX signals to AMBIX or FUMA.

This plugin is ONLY compatible with 1st Order Ambisonics A-FORMAT and B-FORMAT signals.

‘ab Transcoder’ also comes with a ‘smart troubleshooting’ algorithm, which will check your signal chain and let you know if something is wrong with it.

With the newest version of ‘ab Transcoder’, we now offer you a Swiss-army knife that adapts both to the recording and mixing stages. Bear with me while I explain in three points:

First, ‘ab Transcoder’ continues to have the same features as before, whilst adding Profiles.
A Monitor profile has been added with an instant, zero-latency conversion between A-FORMAT to B-FORMAT, designed to track music with your Ambisonics microphones in real time!
A Quality profile, which processes the signal more complexly, is focused on giving you the best sound quality possible for flawless results on your mix.

Additionally, the Quality profile contains three settings:

BALANCED: Great for all kinds of Ambisonics microphones.
013A: Designed specifically for the frequency and phase of the SOYUZ 013 AMBISONIC capsules.
NT-SF1: Designed specifically for the RODE NT-SF1 SOUNDFIELD capsules.

ab Transcoder is available to PC and Mac users (VST3, AU and AAX).
